Historic Look for Carriage House
The Barn at Stratford is pleased to announce a new Historic look to the Carriage House. The walls of the Carriage House are now arrayed with historical scenes of Delaware Ohio.
The Meijer Prints
When Meijer Inc. built its store at Lewis Center Ohio in 1995, they wanted a decor that showed their commitment to the local community. They contacted the Delaware County Historical Society for help. George & Marilyn Cryder brought together a selection of historic scenes from the area to decorate the walls of their new store when it opened on February 27, 1996. In 2011, after many successful years, Meijer redecorated the store and offered the historic prints to the Society.
The Barn was the center of farm work. It housed the animals, the equipment and tack, as well as the ready feed-stock(usually hay). Since animal power was also the primary mode of transportation, a Carriage House was frequently built in or adjacent to the barn. It held the carts, carriages and riding tack.
The Barn at Stratford Carriage House (sometimes referred to as the West Gallery) is right next to the Barn’s Event Gallery. It is perfect for a wine bar with small tables, a quiet gathering space, or an area displaying family photos and art.
