Presents The President Rutherford B. Hayes Walking Tour
The Hayes Walking Tour will include locations related to President Rutherford B. Hayes life growing up in Delaware. Mr. Brent Carson, local historian and Delaware County Historical Society board president will lead both tours. The tours will feature Hayes reenactors who will offer the president’s own recollections.
Two identical tours will be offered – August 3rd and 10th at 7pm
Meet at the Hayes memorial on William Street across from the city hall.
Rutherford B. Hayes
Rutherford Birchard Hayes was the 19th President of the United States. He was born and raised in Delaware Ohio. As president, he oversaw the end of Reconstruction, began the efforts that led to civil service reform, and attempted to reconcile the divisions left over from the Civil War and Reconstruction.
The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is America’s first presidential library. It is located at Spiegel Grove at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues in Fremont, Ohio. The facility is affiliated with the Ohio History Connection. This year celebrates the 100th year of the Hayes Presidential Library.
